Also FYI for others - I'm pretty sure I tracked down the system being used against me in this case based on my web logs:

referer: hxxp://spqr.zz.mu/post_xss.php

Seems to be the system that was employed. I didn't go to this site to verify for obvious reasons but others may want to block the IP address/domain. It was generating a significant amount of traffic.
