Hey folks,
We are now on the way to bring some [modest but tenable and growing] monetization for the security researchers.
Importantly, as always, we (1) don’t want and will not act as an intermediary, and (2) will keep the project open, transparent and free. Here is what we suggest:
Every researcher will be able to place a standardized banner on his/her profile page, and probably on his/her submissions pages.
You will be able to upload a banner (of IT/digital/infosec thematic only) with a link (with tracking if necessary) on these pages.
You will be able to sell these ads to tech/infosec companies, or just on the affiliates marketplaces of your own choice.
You will likewise be able have an ad for your own website or some projects that you like (e.g. your OWASP chapter).
Ads on submission pages is the only consideration that we have now, as it may incentivize quantity, not quality, submissions.
Your input and thoughts will be very helpful, please join the discussion and ask all other OBB researchers to join.

New idea to monetize OBB for the researchers
Re: New idea to monetize OBB for the researchers
I'm not really sure this will help at all - there won't be masses of people looking at researcher's profiles.
Re: New idea to monetize OBB for the researchers
if you need money for the platform make donations possible
Re: New idea to monetize OBB for the researchers
I'm making enough money from bounties, I don't need the site cluttered with ads I will just block anyways.

It cannot be generalized for all Researchers.
Anyway, I am also not sure if banner/ads can bring more money to Researchers.
I think it would be better to improve the Bug Bounty Programs to be more exciting for Researchers, e.g. no "No possible awards" again.
