NewsBytes Bug Bounty Program

NewsBytes runs a bug bounty program to ensure the highest security and privacy of its websites. Everyone is eligible to participate in the program subject to the below-mentioned conditions and requirements of NewsBytes

Open Bug Bounty performs triage and verification of the submissions. However, we never intervene to the further process of vulnerability remediation and disclosure between NewsBytes and researchers.

Bug bounty program allow private and public submissions.

Bug Bounty Scope

The following websites are within the scope of the program:

*.newsbytesapp.com
newsbytesapp.com

Non-Intrusive Submissions Handling

The following section encompasses submission of the vulnerabilities that do not require intrusive testing as per Open Bug Bounty rules:

- Cross Site Scripting (XSS)
- Open Redirect

- Cross Site Request Forgery (CSRF)
- Improper Access Control

General Requirements:

We request you not to do any public disclosure of a bug before it has been fixed.
Please understand that we are a startup, always overloaded with work and it might take some time to fix the vulnerability reported by you. Therefore, give us reasonable amount of time to respond to you with the fix, before you go public.
Share the security issue in detail. At times, we might ask for more information (if required).
Please do not access to another user’s account or data without permission.

Testing Requirements:

Please be respectful with our existing applications, and we request you not to run test-cases which might disrupt our services.
Do not use scanners or automated tools to find vulnerabilities. They’re noisy and might result in suspension of your user account / IP Address.
We also request you not to attempt attacks such as social engineering, phishing. These kind of bugs will not be considered as valid ones, and if caught, might result in suspension of your account.

Possible Awards:

We will mostly reward with awesome goodies with recognition for low/ medium severity vulnerabilities (t-shirts / headphones / e-books / some cool stuff). However, cash rewards are possible depending upon severity and discretion of impact.

Bounties are awarded based on the severity, impact, complexity and the awesomeness of the vulnerability reported and it is at the discretion of NewsBytes Security Bug Bounty panel.

Apart from monetary benefits, vulnerability reporters who work with us to resolve security bugs in our products will be given recognition in some form.

Special Notes:

Vulnerabilities made public before the fix are not eligible for any bounty reward.
